How-to · Localise images

Translate text in an image

You can localise a banner or product graphic by giving the editor your translated replacement text and asking it to fit the existing design. The translation itself is yours to check — the editor fits text, it does not translate for you.

Localise an image

In short

  • Write or verify the translation yourself.
  • Translated text is often longer; shorten it to fit.
  • Ask the editor to keep the font style, colour and placement.
  • Proofread every word in the result.

Prepare the translation

Keep the meaning but match the length of the original where possible. German and French often run 20–30% longer than English; a shorter phrasing fits more cleanly.

Write the edit instruction

Example
Replace "Fresh every morning" with "Frais chaque matin". Keep the same handwritten style, cream colour, size and centred position. Do not change the bread or the background.

Review

  • Accents and special characters are present and correct.
  • Line breaks fall in natural places.
  • Nothing else in the image changed.

Frequently asked questions

Does the editor guarantee the translation is correct?

No. Check the translation, spelling and layout yourself.

What size is the output?
